Job Title: Cantor
Location: Immacolata Catholic Church – Richmond Heights, MO

Employment Type: Part-Time (Liturgical schedule-based)
Immacolata Catholic Church, a vibrant parish in the Archdiocese of St. Louis, is seeking a dedicated and spiritually grounded Cantor to lead the assembly in sung prayer during liturgies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong vocal ability, a deep understanding of Catholic liturgical music, and a commitment to fostering active congregational participation in the Mass and other sacramental celebrations.
Serve as cantor at weekend Masses, holy days, funerals, weddings, and other special liturgies as needed.
Proclaim the Responsorial Psalm and lead all congregational singing in collaboration with the organist or accompanist.
Attend scheduled rehearsals and liturgical planning meetings as required.
Work closely with the Director of Music to select appropriate liturgical music in accordance with Church documents and parish standards.
Maintain a prayerful and professional presence that supports the sacred nature of the liturgy.
Be familiar with the structure and flow of the Roman Catholic Mass and seasonal variations in liturgical music.
Assist with preparation for special liturgical seasons, including Advent, Christmas, Lent, Holy Week, and Easter.
Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for the worshiping community through excellent and engaging music leadership.
Practicing Catholic with a respect for and understanding of the liturgical and musical traditions of the Roman Catholic Church.
Strong vocal skills with the ability to lead and encourage congregational singing.
Ability to read music and follow liturgical cues with precision and reverence.
Previous experience as a cantor or liturgical musician is strongly preferred.
Reliable, punctual, and committed to regular attendance for scheduled liturgies and rehearsals.
Willingness to undergo a background check and comply with all Archdiocesan Safe Environment policies.
