The Team:  The American Girl Retail team is integral in providing lifetime memories to American Girl fans and their families. Our experiential retail stores provide shopping destinations like no other. This requires Innovation, Collaboration, and Execution from all who are a part of this division. Our in-store experiences range depending on location from Girl and Doll Salons, Full-Service Restaurants, Personal Shopping, Ear Piercing (Girl and Doll), hosting Parties/Celebrations to name a few. Expect a dynamic and fast-paced role where you get to make decisions that impact the team as well as our customers.

Job Description



The Opportunity:  The Personal Shopper is located at the AG Retail Flagship Chicago location and reports directly to the Assistant Department Manager. This position is responsible for giving customers the highest level of personalized service through client development. The individual we seek has high energy and a positive attitude, is highly organized, efficient, flexible, team-oriented, and strives to create a positive experience for the client and their family.

What Your Impact Will Be: 

  • Provide personalized premium customer service through active listening, anticipating needs, offering suggestions/knowledge regarding product, dining, and store experiences, overcoming objections, and closing the sale, and responding to special requests. 
  • Build a client base and foster client relationships by optimizing selling opportunities.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients via phone and written correspondence, including scheduling appointments on a regular basis.
  • Maintain client information in an organized manner.
  • Meet or exceeds personal and department sales goals.
  • Build rapport with co-workers by offering assistance as needed; act as a mentor to store staff by sharing product knowledge/selling techniques.
  • Assists with training new employees to the department.

Qualifications



What We’re Looking For:

  • High school degree or equivalent, preferred.
  • 2-3 years of work experience, specifically sales and client development, preferred.
  • Experience working with a broad and diverse work force and customer base, including children, preferred.
  • Must have strong organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written). 
  • Must have computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Must be available to work evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
